Thursday Race - Test Run

August 16, 2009
Posted by: SteveB

Saturday we went out and test-rode the first two rounds of checkpoints. It was supposed to be a test but it turned into a race between myself, Colin & Dylan, and Yim. JSN kept score. Two #1 finishes for Colin & Dylan. This race is going to be a real brain twister.

  • First round - pick one (only one) of the Stage 1 destinations (3 possible)
  • Go go go! After a short sprint, pick up your prize card (if you're quick) or get a stamp.
  • Back to the start - get a stamp and pick up your Stage 2 destinations.
  • Pick one and spin it up! This one's a bit longer, so choose wisely and you might get a prize card. Don't forget to get a stamp.
  • Back to the start. Get a stamp. Pick up your long run Stage #3 list.
  • Grind it out to the Stage 3 finish of your choice. Pocket that prize card or get your stamp.
  • If you don't have any 1st place cards, go back to the start and grab a beverage. Wait for the big finish....
  • If you have one, show a 1st place prize card at your Stage 3 - the Stage 4 location will be revealed!
  • Crush it to Stage 4. This one's worth it. Better hurry, there's no telling who else is going for it or where they are.
  • Get your Stage 4 stamp and hustle it back to the finish.
  • First one back with a Stage 4 stamp gets the Grand Prize!

see here

Components on my bike have changed some since I first put it together, I'm riding a more comfortable saddle and handlebar, Concor Light and Profile Dromo, but still riding a Wound Up fork and keirin double straps. The H Plus Son wheelset Box Dog Bikes built last year is still running perfectly true!

the wheel in question

Alright obviously I was a little heated last night. I hope you enjoyed my rant. In case you missed it, my rear wheel was stolen at the oakland museum party last night, and I would appreciate someone returning it to montano velo at their earliest convenience, no questions asked.

So here's the only pics I could find of my current setup and the wheel in question. it has a gold euro-asia 18t cog on it, 32 black spokes/black nips laced to a black velocity hub. It's the solid one, no cut-outs. Hub is 32h fixed/free I think. The "copper" color is like a dark kind of orangey green.

Let's get this back to its home. I don't think anyone else has this exact wheel setup right now, not around here, so this thing should stick out like a sore thumb. Thanks for your concern, and please shut up already about "maca stole my money you deserve this" or whatever from the last comments on the other post. If that is how you approach the world I just feel bad and embarrassed for you.

Thanks!
