Al, Adam Shap, Fox, Jason Spires, and I formed our team, Ride Slow Oakland, on Friday and drove down Friday night to the Wolfpack Hustle All-City III team race. We arrived back in Oakland two days later with a 4th place finish and a lot of new friends and great memories. Thanks for Kyle and Adria from Tracko from putting us up in your tiny apartment and especially Adria for cooking us breakfast and letting Fox graze your fruit trees.
This race is one of the most exciting I've ever done. The trip and the race had everything - traffic, freeways, road bikes, cops, helicopters, teamwork, wind, crashes, teenagers, old men, Cat 1s, strategy, madison slings, cutty routing, shit-talking, BBQs, sand wrestling, Keo trick demo, scooter film crews, beer, homemade tortillas, bike thieves, backflips, and...it just goes on. If they manage to pull off a Wolfpack 4 next year, make the trip, you'll be glad you did.
